Get Involved! Volunteer
Opportunities
We are currently in need of volunteers for the HVAF Summer Festival to assist with the following:
- Baking volunteers - the cake walk game is in need of baked goods (cakes, cookies, brownies, etc.) to be used as prizes.
- Fill-in volunteers - relieve other volunteers as needed throughout their shift
- Spill the Milk game attendants
Ongoing volunteer opportunities are also available in the in the following areas:
* Drivers - needed for a variety of tasks including transporting veterans to job interviews, employment sites, hospital or administrative appointment
* Warehouse Assistants - needed to assist in sorting and tabulating donated items of clothing, food, furniture, and a variety of household items
* Maintenance Personnel - assist in a variety of "handy-man" and "fix-it" projects at a variety of sites

* Property beautification projects are always ongoing but are most frequently completed during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Property beautification can include landscaping, painting and cleaning (both indoors or outdoors) at our scattered site houses.
* Administration - general office and reception area assistance
* Special event volunteers. During the summer volunteers are needed to assist with our fundraising projects. This can include assisting in the planning process, advertising, soliciting sponsorships and donations. Day of volunteers are also needed in order to assist with set up and tear down, food service and clean up.

* Grant research
* Teaching arts and crafts to clients
* Be on the lookout for hotels that are remodeling to obtain donated sheets, towels, blankets, furniture beds, etc.
